If you collect books by authors that were active in the 1950s and 60s, you will inevitably encounter editions that were issued by The Science Fiction Book Club (SFBC). Other than a few special cases, such as Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles and Isaac Asimov's I, Robot, they generally cost only a few pounds each, so are very collectable, even for those on a budget.

SFBC issued its first book in March 1953 and in one form or another carried on until the end of 1982. The books were numbered consecutively until volume 170 in 1971. After this there was no consistent numbering system used, although an order of publication can be approximated. For further information, see Greg Pickersgill's SFBC Archive.

SFandFantasy.co.uk will only cover the first 170 volumes. For the time being it will only be a simple text listing, but a full gallery will be compiled in the future.
